Her first notable success in America came in Henry Savage's 1906/7 season as Cio-Cio-San in the premiere of Madama Butterfly (in English). Her performance on 27 October 1906 was the second ever in the USA, following that of Elsa Szamosy by only twelve days. Florence held a world record of more than three hundred appearances in Madame Butterfly, her favourite role.
